ZoneAlarm SocialGuard is a security app that protects your children's online privacy when using Facebook.
In order to use the program, you need to know your child’s Facebook account password. You can then link ZoneAlarm SocialGuard to their Facebook accounts (it supports up to five) and let the program analyze your kid’s friends on this popular social site.
Based on the activity of your children’s Facebook friends, ZoneAlarm SocialGuard claims to be able to detect potential cases of cyberbullying, dangerous or inappropriate links, age concerns or even detect if your account has been hacked. All these issues are neatly presented in separate areas in the program’s interface.
While the idea behind ZoneAlarm SocialGuard is good, we can’t say it works. When tested with our Facebook accounts, the program marked some of our friends as potential strangers, just because they didn’t have any other friends in common with us. Some parents might argue that this is a bit overzealous.
With ZoneAlarm SocialGuard you can keep an eye on your kid’s friends on Facebook and watch out for any suspicious behavior.
